Waller Independent School District is one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas. It recently purchased additional land in Bridgeland to build a second elementary school within Prairieland Village. A 19-acre parcel of land at the intersection of Conservation Crossing and Hilltopping Drive will be the site of the future school that will serve 850 students living in Prairieland Village and upcoming Creekland Village.
“Waller ISD and Bridgeland share a deep commitment to educational excellence, and our continued partnership is important for the growth and success of both Prairieland Village and the forthcoming Creekland Village,” said Steve Sams, Senior Vice President, MPC Residential for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Waller ISD’s decision to purchase a second school site west of Grand Parkway in the early stages of development of Prairieland Village speaks to the growth of the community and the desire for personal, community-oriented educational opportunities.”
One of Bridgeland’s tenets is educational excellence. From our top-rated elementary, middle and high schools to preschool and supportive educational spaces, Bridgeland offers its students a full spectrum of learning opportunities. In order to accommodate the expansion of our community, additional schools must be built. Waller ISD’s expansion ensures that, together, we are meeting the demands of the growing community by preparing with state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge programs.
“The Waller ISD family and Bridgeland are growing at a rapid pace,” said Kevin Moran, Superintendent for Waller ISD. “We are proud to partner together to plan for the future and work to prepare every student to achieve their highest aspirations.”
Waller schools strive to provide the best educational experience for their students by utilizing an individualized approach to teaching. Known for its smaller class sizes and using technology in all phases of education, the district ranked very highly based on state test results, exceeding state norms. New and updated facilities will also strengthen learning across the K-12 district. A new Waller High School with state-of-the-art instructional spaces opened at the start of the 2022 school year. Their website boasts this is one of the only high schools in Texas offering comprehensive academic, fine arts and athletics as well as Career and Technology programs all under one roof. In addition, students can earn over 20 industry-based certifications in more than 15 career and technical education fields and more than 40 hours of dual credit college courses. A newly renovated middle school will open in August of 2023 and a revamped Roberts Road Elementary School will open for the 2024 school year.
Quality education is a top motivator for homebuyers, and Bridgeland is recognized for its diverse, top-rated educational offerings. In the near future, in addition to Cy-Fair and Waller schools, our community will offer a charter school: Harmony Schools of Bridgeland and a private school: Cypress Christian School. Additionally, Bridgeland offers Primrose School for early learners and several learning centers: Kumon and Adventure Kids Playcare. In Bridgeland, parents can feel confident that each of the schools is committed to successful outcomes for all students.
Joining Pope Elementary School in Lakeland; Wells, and McGowan Elementary Schools in Parkland; and the forthcoming WISD elementary school near the intersection of Bridgeland Creek Parkway and Prairieland Crossing, the new WISD elementary will be the fifth elementary school serving Bridgeland students. Waller estimates that construction on their first elementary school site in Bridgeland will begin spring of 2023 and open for the 2024-2025 school year.
