Busy weekend ahead in Bridgeland to help you celebrate Mom

Mothers around the world rejoice as this weekend is all about you! Deserving of more than one day of recognition a year, Bridgeland is offering two fun events, both open to the public, where you can take mom for food, fun and shopping.

Bridgeland will kick off Mother’s Day weekend with Friday Night Bites at Lakeland Village Center. The festivities will start at 5 p.m. with local food trucks, live music from Cerveza and a performance by the Highflyers Jump Rope Team.

And if that wasn’t enough, Masterchef Junior contestant “Shayne the Train” will provide the Lil Chefs cooking demonstration during this month’s event.

So what’s on tap for food this month? Plenty!

Food trucks for May include: Gooroo’s Wood Fire Pizza, poke bowls from Bowl’D UP, Pit Kingz barbecue, A&B Wing Masters, vegan and vegetarian fare from Falacos, Miss Mary’s Happy Hot Dogs and authentic Mexican food from El Topo.

In addition, The Grove, Twisted Catfish and  Grab and Go Grill will not only have their traditional offerings but will also give parents plenty of choices for their children. Desserts will be served by Bahama Bucks and The Baker’s Man .

We’re giving mom the day off on Saturday but on Sunday, it will be time to shop. Mother’s Day serves as a special backdrop for this month’s Farmers Market at Bridgeland, where guests will have the chance to pick up something special for their mother while shopping for the freshest local meats, produces and cheeses.

While Bridgeland resident Mike Gilbert performs for the crowd, three new vendors will also make their debut: Goat Haus Dairy, Heffernan Bar-B-Que and New Harvester Farm.

In addition, the market will offer free-range eggs, coffees and teas, breads and sweet treats, ready-to-eat foods, jams, jellies and more will be available, rounding out one of the area’s biggest and best farmers markets.

Now that we have your weekend plans covered, spend some quality time with Mom!
