Bridgeland’s Favorite Holiday Traditions and Christmas Activities

The air is crisp, the days are shorter, and wreaths adorn your neighbors’ doors. The holiday season is officially here! Some of our fondest and closest held memories are holiday traditions done year after year. Whether filling your yard with Christmas decorations, participating in a community service project, or attending a Christmas light show, holiday traditions are better when shared with family, friends and neighbors. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the best Christmas activities to celebrate the holidays in and round Bridgeland.

Outdoor Christmas Decorations

After you’ve strung Christmas lighting around your house, venture through Bridgeland to check out your neighbors’ twinkling roof tops and illuminated trees. Then, swing by Bridgeland’s Model Home Park to see a spectacular holiday lighting display that includes lights on all 20 model homes. Don’t forget to bring a thermos of cocoa to make it a truly magical night.

Christmas Community Service Ideas

Giving is always more fulfilling than getting. This season, organize your family or your neighborhood block to participate in a community service project that will help spread holiday cheer to others.

Consider adopting a child in need through Cy-Hope, a local non-profit dedicated to improving life for all kids in Cy-Fair. Let your kids play Santa, as they carefully select gifts from another child’s Christmas list and learn the true meaning of the season.

Another wonderful way to give back to the community is to visit a local hospital or nursing home. Bring a poinsettia to decorate the lobby, and share your gifts on the piano to host a Christmas caroling singalong for an evening none of you will soon forget!

Local Christmas Events

Gather friends, families and neighbors for these fun local events. You’ll want to get these Santa sightings, snow activities and family-friendly holiday events in your calendar right away.

Snow Day

Friday, Dec. 7, 2018

5-8 p.m.

Bridgeland Model Home Park

You might not hear this on the Weather Channel, but snow is in the forecast this December! We’re teaming up with Frontier Title and Bridgeland’s homebuilders to bring white, fluffy snow to Bridgeland. Kids will enjoy playing in the snow and getting to meet Santa while Christmas carolers stroll by singing your favorite holiday tunes. Each model home will have a different holiday activity, including ornament making and writing a letter to Santa. This event is free and open to the public.

Farmers Market in Bridgeland

Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018

12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Lakeland Activity Center

Enjoy a local farmers market as well as a variety of artisan booths to help you check items off your Christmas shopping list.

Taste of the Season

We have one last treat to leave you with, and this one is especially tasty. This Peppermint Hot Chocolate recipe came direct from our friends at L3 Craft Coffee in Lakeland Village Center. We think it’s best enjoyed with neighbors around a crackling fire or while sharing Christmas bedtime stories with little ones.

½ oz of chocolate sauce

½ oz of Barista 22 peppermint syrup

10 oz of milk

Whip cream or marshmallow

Peppermint candy chips

  1. Pour chocolate sauce and peppermint syrup into a mug.
  2. Heat milk in the microwave or on a stove top to about 140° Fahrenheit.
  3. Pour heated milk into mug with chocolate sauce and peppermint syrup and mix thoroughly.
  4. Add whip cream or marshmallow on top and sprinkle with peppermint candy chips.

Bridgeland is full of holiday cheer this year. We hope you’ll make some of our favorite holiday traditions your favorite holiday traditions, too.
